Product Info
A rare early 19th century terracotta vase from Puglia, Italy.
Found in Ostuni, an historic Roman town on the Adriatic coast, famous for its dazzling lime-painted white houses.
It features two sturdy side handles organically fused with the body, creating a balanced and sculptural silhouette characteristic of southern Italian pottery. Its form reflects the longstanding ceramic traditions of the region, where practicality and craftsmanship coexisted naturally.
The exterior is fully glazed with a glossy brown and honey finish. The glaze was applied by hand, revealing handmade nature, authenticity, subtle irregularities, tonal variations. These imperfections are part of the character of antique terracotta and speak to the individuality of each object.
Today, it can be used as a sculptural decorative object, a vessel for branches or flowers, or incorporated into a collection of antique pottery and rustic Mediterranean interiors.
